UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Operative (B2)
Description
Please Note: Trainees must have a UKATA certified asbestos awareness training certificate to attend this course. If delegates do not have a valid certificate, you can attend our asbestos awareness training course or attend our full UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal (B1) course which includes the asbestos awareness element.
The UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal training is designed for individuals who will be removing asbestos containing materials (ACMs) that do not fall under the licensing requirements (as defined in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Reg 3(2).
This course is suitable for construction workers, electricians, plumbers, refurbishment operatives, demolition workers, facility management personnel and more and follows the UKATA Non-licensable work with asbestos including NNLW syllabus.

Course Duration
Our UKATA approved Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal training course lasts one day (six hours).
Weekday courses commence at 8.30am and weekend courses at 7.30am unless communicated otherwise.

Our UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal Training courses are delivered at our training centre in Maidstone, Kent.

Who should attend?
Professionals who have completed a UKATA Asbestos Awareness course within the last 12 months and are now looking to remove non-licensed products, such as cement, floor tiles and textured coatings, should attend the Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal Training.
These include, but are not limited to: demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters & decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunications engineers, computer installers, fire and burglar alarm installers, architects and building surveyors.
Course Programme
As part of the Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal course, delegates will learn about:
- The history of asbestos
- Legislative requirements
- Asbestos and its properties
- Exposure and health issues
- Locations of asbestos
- Asbestos survey requirements
- PPE & RPE
- Emergency Procedures
- Removal techniques
- Use of Class H Vacuum
- Use of wetting control measures
- Control measures
- Cleaning, waste management and decontamination
- Risk assessment and plans of work
- Transportation of asbestos
- Exposure records
- Air testing & personal monitoring
- Occupational health requirements
At the end of the course, delegates will:
- Understand what works are classified as non-licensed
- Know the control measures required to undertake non-licensed work
- Know how to undertake specific tasks, prevent the spread of asbestos, manage waste and decontaminate areas after working.
Assessment
At the end of the training course, delegates will take a multiple-choice examination. In order to pass, delegates will need to achieve a score of at least 22 out of 30.
Certificates /Awards
Successful candidates will receive a UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal Training Certificate, which can be validated using UKATA’s online validation tool.
Next Steps
Delegates must attend UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Removal Refresher courses every year to ensure their UKATA certificate remains valid.
