The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) has warned of the impact on training and future health risks associated with the material amid the coronavirus crisis.
Training in the handling and removal of asbestos has sunk to a third of pre-COVID levels, according to the organisation, which accredits training providers. The gap in training, coupled with maintenance of buildings declining due to lockdown closures, could lead to an increase in deaths from asbestos in years to come, it warned.
